ACADEMIC PROFILE

I hold a Master’s degree in Pedagogical Mediation for English Language Learning, a Master’s degree in Education, a Master of Arts in Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL), a postgraduate specialisation in Distance Higher Education, and a Bachelor’s degree in English as a Foreign Language.

My professional experience has focused on university teaching, academic support, and the design of accessible educational resources for open, online and distance higher education.

My work is particularly concerned with the educational inclusion of Deaf students who use Colombian Sign Language (LSC). In this field, I design visual, bilingual and multimodal materials intended to facilitate access to information, understanding of academic content, and participation in virtual learning environments.

My academic interests include pedagogical mediation, written English language learning, Universal Design for Learning, digital accessibility, Colombian Sign Language, and the development of educational resources for students with diverse communication needs.

AREAS OF EXPERTISE AND SPECIALISATION:

Pedagogical Mediation in Virtual Environments

I design and support learning processes in virtual learning environments. My work focuses on dialogic interaction, autonomous learning, student retention, and academic support. I aim to help students understand their learning pathways, participate with greater confidence, and progress according to clearly defined criteria.

Inclusive Techno-Pedagogical Design and Accessibility

I develop visual, multimodal and bilingual educational resources in Spanish, English and Colombian Sign Language. This process begins with identifying communication, technological and pedagogical barriers. The aim is to create materials that are more accessible, clear and relevant to students’ needs.

Colombian Sign Language Inclusion in Higher Education

I support academic processes involving Deaf students who use Colombian Sign Language, with particular attention to their communication, linguistic and pedagogical needs. This work includes guidance, pedagogical mediation, support in virtual environments, and the production of accessible educational resources.

Teaching English as a Foreign Language

I combine my background in TEFL and higher education to support English language learning, particularly at beginner levels and in contexts requiring visual, bilingual or multimodal forms of pedagogical mediation.

TRANSLATING AND INTERPRETING
