Professional profile

I am a Professor, a languages lover in general, with Academic Advising skills to promote the Students' autonomous, collaborative and meaningful learning through psycho-pedagogical and educational orientation. Additionally, I hold knowledge and skills in Information Communication Technologies in inclusive environments.

 

Translator and Sign Language Interpreter for Deaf persons, all of whom use Colombian Sign Language. In this way, I had contributed to their social inclusion, allowing them to participate in educative and professional fields and their employment activities.

 

I have good communication and expression in Spanish, Colombian Sign Language (LSC), and English. I have high human and ethical values. I can work as a team with people from different professional areas; I am capable of interacting efficiently with the public in general. Likewise, I am willing to learn and acquire new skills and knowledge.

Tutor y consejero académico para estudiantes Sordos usuarios de la Lengua Señas Colombiana, y para estudiantes oyentes hispanohablantes. Las actividades giran entorno a brindar orientación educativa y psicoeducativa a fin de contribuir a la adaptación de la educación a distancia mediada por las tecnologías de la información y comunicación mediante el escenario de formación de Cátedra Unadista. Así mismo en el acompañamiento de los estudiantes Sordos como tutor de apoyo e intérprete LSC según necesidad. La actividad como consejero académcio bilingüe implica la producción de Objetos Virtuales Informativos (OVI) en Lengua de Señas Colombiana. 

EDUCATIONAL CONSULTANT

​2016 - 2018

As a professional member of the Languages and Interpreting Team from the Educational Management Sub-Directorate at INSOR (National Institute for the Deaf) I worked designing, updating, and implementing the Certificating National Evaluation for Colombian Sign Language - Spanish Interpreters (ENILSCE). Also, I serve as an educational designer with the Curriculum Design Team for a future Associate of Arts Degree (or Foundation Degree of the Arts) in Colombian Sign Language - Spanish Interpretation, according to a collaboration agreement between INSOR and SENA (National Training Service).

COLOMBIAN SIGN LANGUAGE - SPANISH INTERPRETER

I have been serving as a Sign Language interpreter in different settings such as labor, medical, psychiatric, legal, media, conventions, and seminars, as well in educational contexts (elementary, secondary, and tertiary education). I had served as a professional interpreter for entities such as FENASCOL (Colombia National Federation of the Deaf), UNAD (Open and Distance National University), ANISCOL (National Association of Sign-Language Translators/Interpreters and Interpreter Guides of Colombia), SED (Secretary of Education of Bogotá).

Diplomatura de cuatro (4) créditos académicos del programa Formación de Formadores de la Universidad, cuyo propósito fué la de orientar las condiciones necesarias para realizar procesos de mediación que contribuyan a la formación de docentes desde los saberes, estrategias, recursos pedagógicos y didácticos en Entornos Virtuales de Aprendizaje. 

 

TRAINING PROGRAM FOR DEAF AND DEAFBLIND INTERPRETERS

​Valle University (UNIVALLE). In collaboration with Colombia National Federation of the Deaf (FENASCOL), Föreningen Sveringes Döblblinda (Association of the Swedish Deafblind, FSDB) and National Institute for the Deaf (INSOR), the University conducted a 410 hours training course for Colombian Sign Language – Spanish interpreters to improve their knowledge and interpretation skills to render a high-quality service. The course aim was to promote educational, professional, labor and social inclusion of Deaf and Deaf-Blind persons in Colombia.
